Beside the beauty of the place, it's a beautiful thing that the church shoved aside its pews to make room for the Makers' market. |
It's called a "Christmas Cactus" because it tends to bloom around Christmas time. Jean has it blooming at many points in the year. This photo was taken near the beginning of November. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Schlumbergera And just in case: http://www.wikihow.com/Care-for-a-Christmas-Cactus |

I saw the little fellow after I cropped the image. There he is, Stealth Trapper, and if you look closely you may see the spider's web. |

Intentional and Geared-Up
On our morning walk (usually along the Grand River), saw this guy fishing.
Do you think he'll catch fish? Of course he will. If I sit on the shore watching him, will I catch any fish? Of course
not.
So I thought about the church; if the church is as intentional and geared
up to catch people, to 'fish for people' as Jesus said (Mark 1:16-17) ... well, you see the point.
And yet churches sit and wait, and are bewildered why they're not 'catching'
anyone.
