That painting is still hanging at the Neufelds. I still hold fast to the fact that she is sleeping, and he's watching her.

I took a picture of that painting in the place where Oma & Opa celebrated their big anniversary.
It's also possible that he's fallen asleep and that she's watching him.
But I'm assuming that they're discussing something -- but what?
